Top ten things about Netflix’ The Witcher

Netflix’ The Witcher has already broken records in its first season for its ratings and amount of viewers. It is popular among the fans of the game and original book series as well as new viewers experiencing the universe for the first time. We are going to check out the top ten things the series has going for it from the first season. Disclaimer: This post may contain spoilers for the series, so if you haven’t see it get on Netflix now and watch it.

10. The characters

The Witcher is filled with deep and complex characters that lead to the stories also being deep and interesting for viewers. There are already many great characters and everyone will have their own favorites and dislike characters. We have also put together a list of the top characters in the series. Check it out and let us know what you think.

9. Roach

While Roach is just a horse, she is obviously important to Geralt and the interactions with Geralt give us some important insight to his character. While he cares not much for the troubles of humanity, he has plenty of love for his animal. I hope future seasons will expand Roach’s time on the screen.

8. Casting

While the casting is a bit hit and miss, they have casted many of the character extremely well. Henry Cavill plays Geralt wonderfully. Likewise the actors for Tissaia, Jaskier, Yarpen, Borch, Calanthe are all fantastic. There is room for improvement for some of the actors however they are unlikely to be changed now. We can only hope they will improve in their acting skills as the next season rolls around.

7. Settings

The show runners have done a great job of find some great settings and scenes. The landscapes and cities they have found and created make the series immersive and have done a good job of capturing the feel of The Witcher universe.

6. Dialogue

Some of the dialogue in the series has been amazing so far. The Geralt and Jaskier back-and-forth is probably the peak of the dialogue currently. Although Queen Calanthe has some choice lines herself. Lets hope the writers can keep improving the dialogue as the series continues to develop.

5. Bathtub scenes

Famous from The Witcher video games, bathtub scenes have made their way into the Netflix series. Geralt seems to like his baths and some important and funny scenes happening when he is taking a bath. Whether he is with Jaskier or Yennefer, the bath tub scenes provide some comedy or a romantic setting for the show. I’m sure many of the show viewers enjoyed the bathtub scenes as well.

4. Bingeable

One of the best things about The Witcher being a Netflix series is that all the episodes are released at once. This means you can binge the whole series in one go. It also means you might have to be more careful about spoilers on the internet but that is always a worry. Having all the episodes available at once means you can move through the episodes at your own pace and better remember the story between episodes.

3. Magic

Most the of magic containing scenes have been…magical. The CGI for the magical effects has been extremely well done. From the fighting scenes with Geralt’s signs, to the invasion at Sodden Hill. Hopefully the visual effects team can keep it up for the coming seasons and even improve the effects.

2. Fighting

The fight choreography of some of The Witcher scenes is absolutely magnificent. They really showed it off in the first episode. With some fast, dashing displays from Geralt making it a thrill to watch. What is even more impressive, Henry Cavill who plays Geralt of Rivia, did all the stunts himself. Henry has really immersed himself into the character and is doing a great job.

1. Toss a Coin

Jaskier’s hit song, Toss a Coin.

Already supremely popular among most viewers is Jaskier’s song from episode 2. With lyrics telling the story of Geralt and Jaskier’s adventure from the second episode, with a little embellishment. The tune is catchy and features great singing from the famous bard himself. Check out the YouTube video of the song and get it playing in your house now!
